MEASURING SUCCESS

IN-SHELTER FITNESS PROGRAM

Program Category: Weekly In-Shelter Fitness Program

  • Number and Satisfaction of Participants (goal number depends on size of space, number of youth living in shelter, considering if the youth are available or not at that time)

  • Ability to use tools learned in workshop independently (do the youth feel like they’ve learned something new, and do they feel empowered to use the skills they’ve learned independently? Have we provided the opportunity for them to use the skills independently (i.e. also providing gym membership, and if so how often are they using it)? Has their confidence increased since beginning the program?

  • Health/Social return on Investment: Decreased rates of hypertension, chronic pain, CV disease, substance use

Program Category: Scholarship Program

  • Have the participating youth exited the shelter system (i.e. are they living independently?)

  • Have the participating youth been able to gain meaningful, full-time employment?

Program Category: Fitness Fundraising Events: Attendees and Sponsors of Events, Including Volunteer Trainers That Have Worked With Us

  • Do the attendees have an improved perception of homeless population?

  • Have the attendees continued advocacy in the field (supporting at-risk youth or working with the homeless) and/or our organization?
